Tekken Tag 2 hits consoles in SeptemberTekken Tag Tournament 2 will launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this September, Namco Bandai has announced.

Over 50 characters will feature on the disc, including series-faves Jin, Heihachi, Yoshimitsu and Nina, meaning the sequel to the hit PS2 launch title will contain the largest character roster in Tekken’s 18-year history.

An additional Pair Play option also lets four-players team-up for an “ultimate team battle”, while a new Fight Lab mode lets players customise the moves and appearance of training robot, Combot.

“There is so much packed into TEKKEN Tag Tournament 2 that we can’t wait to reveal to fans of both fighting games and fans of all games,” said Olivier Comte, Senior Vice President of Namco Bandai Partners S.A.S.

“The latest entry into the iconic series will have the level of depth expected of the highest-selling fighting game franchise of all time, but also the accessibility for new fans and gaming noobs alike.”

But there are still more surprises in store, reckons Namco, who are teasing an E3 reveal for the game’s ”innovative online functionality”.

A ‘Prologue’ edition of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 was including with PS3 fighter Tekken Hybrid earlier this year, letting players demo the game months in advance.

An arcade version of the game first launched in September last year.
