Slant Six doesn't understand negative Resident Evil reviews

Slant Six doesn't understand negative Resident Evil reviewsResident Evil: Operation Raccoon City developer Slant Six Games has suggested that it doesn’t understand why the game has been panned by critics.

Speaking on Twitter, the developer appeared to agree with a commenter who said that they were “having a hard time figuring out why this game is getting such bad reviews”.

“Us too,” replied Slant Six. “We’re listening to the players though and they seem to like it and that is the most important thing.”

“We’re pumped on all the great feedback from players,” said the developer to another commenter. “Thanks for sharing with us”.

Slant Six appears to have been on damage control since reviews of the game hit yesterday, retweeting positive comments and interacting with fans enjoying the game.

The game currently has a Metacritic score of 54 and 49 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 respectively, with critics condemning it for its “buggy AI”, “complete lack of atmosphere” and “terrible glitches”. One reviewer called the game “defective in ways I’ve never seen before”.

Our review of the game will feature in next month’s issue of 360Zine, out April 5th.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City launches in the UK this Friday on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A PC version is due for release in May.

from what ive seen its a decnt game not the best and not the worst i would pay 40$ for it but i wont pay 60$ cause its just not worth 60$

How do you know it’s not worth $60? You haven’t played it, you fool. You said, “from what I’ve seen, it’s a decent game.” That means you haven’t played it yourself, and therefore you don’t know what it’s worth. Come on man, stop being so dim.

there is a thing called youtube! where you can you know WATCH GAMEPLAY!

          • Posted by Sarcastic Knight on December 20th, 2012, 06:48 [Reply]

I don’t know you can’t fully depend on youtube and watch game videos to understand the game perhaps the person playing it wasn’t very good or expects to much.

Personaly I did buy it at the 60$ and havent looked back cause I’ve had so much laughs out of online play. (this is why every game needs a demo.) I’ve heard mass raves of black ops II and looked on youtube for gamer footage the person playing the game was doing some random jack and it looked boring I’ve been wanting to rent it from redbox but its never there to try it for myself.

The Only reason the review score is low is because a PS3(use to be)exclusive developer made the game…. and i bet it does not have bugs or A.I problems on the PS3 like they said. I mean how could it??? they know how to develop for PS3

If you think Slant Sucks can make a game without bugs…then you have never play Socom Confrontation, look up how bad that game was for the first year!

        • Posted by LVG on March 21st, 2012, 19:29 [Reply]

You didn’t play Socom:Confrontation at all. People like you who are used to things being handed to them easily wrote bad reviews about it, because they are used to having their hands held in games like Call of Duty. The game wasn’t the best, but it was no where near the disaster that idiots made it out to be.

lol. It’s sad how uninformed you are… The PS3 players on this game are having a terrible time getting the game to even start. and when it does, they are having connection issues. PLZ do your homework before you post something stupid.

What did I post that was uninformed? Just go to the Capcom-Unity forums and you’ll see a bug/glitch thread where people with PS3s are complaining about very issue I stated. The fact that you tried to compare this to the movies show how low your standards are anyways.

Actually I’ve had no issue starting it up. Once I couldn’t get an online connection but it maybe because it was 3am on monday night. A few glitches but I thought they were funny as hell.

Before I played yesterday, I was expecting one of the worst games ever and some of the worst A.I. ever; however, I don’t see it doing anything worse than what COD and other games do. The A.I. in COD is crap as well except on top of that, you have enemies spawning right in front of you. In ORC, I don’t see this.

My buddy and I beat the game in 3 hours and 56 minutes.

The thing is more people expected this to be like RE5 or RE4. and because of their huge expectation they were also hugely surprised how it change the genre so much some hated that change specially critics and reviewers but honestly its not that bad of a game at all. the idea is there but they just handled the execution not too well. all games have bugs that why updates and patches exist.

I like many other were just excited to have a RE multiplayer for PC .. but the engine in general is the prob.. capcom should take notes from Source based games.. then maybe REORC would perhaps be playable and maybe even a huge success.. instead. we all just donated our money for no real reason than that… fine by me.. I dont mind being a supporter.. I enjoy throwing money around, yesterday i drank a 40 with a random bum and gave him a 20 dollar bill… and that was a bigger success for me than this long waited PC release

“buggy AI”, “complete lack of atmosphere” and “terrible glitches”. One reviewer called the game “defective in ways I’ve never seen before”?

I agree with buggy AI but NOT “complete lack of atmosphere” , when i started the game in Umbrella Labs ive felt like in the first RE movie then out in Racoon City i was where i always wanted to be and to explore , RC and what terrible glitches?
I havent encountered one and that reviewer is exagerating.
The only complain i have about the game is was that for me it was too short.

by far this is the worst re ever. i have played and owned every re from 1 to the 3ds titles to even horrible re survivor. the AI is bad, the atmosphere is boring, i knew this was a side game w a differ aspect of the story but i mean cmon slant six? seems like a rushed game, i mean wheres a little story on the umbrella characters? im disappointed. and hope capcom revives themselves w re6. and please slant six u havent made a good game and your shocked about the reviews? obviously u didnt play the finshed game u made

This game is pretty damn awesome to me via the solo campaigns & online competitive matches and aside from the AI at times, I kind of wish every resident evil game including 4&5 atleast played like it control & gameplay wise. When you think about it, a game like this would have almost been more suited for the ps vita considering the length and multiplayer value.Anyone who has a problem with this game is just plain being picky.Dont listen to any negative reviews before at least renting or buying this game and giving it one full play through for yourself.I chose not to read any reviews before playing this game as I get very easily influenced by others thinking. In turn I now have a game that I love and wont be trading in anytime soon.

Having a good time with this game. I think the fans that have grown up with RE have adapted to this play control that the critics are having such a tough time with. Probably a 6/7, but no way below a 5!

LOL. I was surprised when I found out that Slant Six was still around after they ruined the SOCOM franchise with SOCOM Constipation. Even when Zipper tried to save it by COD-ifying SOCOM 4, the game still flopped (thanks to outrage from veteran fans).
Slant Six is a horrible developer.

No lie I liked the game and playing with other people makes it better, these days every gamer wants to be pampered. The only thing I honestly didn’t like about the game is how short it is. I beat it in 3 days. If they apply “Add-ons” like more levels or different online games then that might save the game a bit. The concept is badass though.

nice job 6 good game but get rid of the designer from capcoms team because what we wanted was a resi… what we got was lost planet with zombies and minus mechs.. but good for coop :) 8.5 out of 10 imo.
