Bethesda has formally announced Shinji Mikami’s new survival horror Zwei, revealing the first ever details and releasing a teaser image showcasing “a collage of different environments from the game”.
According to Bethesda, Zwei is a “pure survival horror experience”, which Mikami claims “pushes the limits of fear and exhilaration”.
“A true ‘survival horror’ game is one in which the player confronts and overcomes fear,” said Shinji Mikami, president and creative director for Tango Gameworks.
“I’ve found my focus and once again I’m striving for pure survival horror. I am being very hands-on in the development of this game to ensure that the quality is there. Rest assured.”
Bethesda says that the image, pictured top right, helps “communicate the tone and the direction that the production is taking”.
Mikami’s latest project was revealed via Famitsu yesterday.
It’ll be the first game from Mikami’s new studio Tango Gameworks, and the first Bethesda title to be developed by a Japanese developer.
The game is scheduled for release next year.
Company of Heroes 2, Batman: Arkham Origins, Grand Theft Auto V, Watch_Dogs, Beyond: Two Souls and Night of the Rabbit previews.
