Harmonix has confirmed that all new downloadable content released for the Rock Band store will no longer be compatible with Rock Band 1 or Rock Band 2.
Speaking with Joystiq.com, Harmonix stated any dlc released after October 26th 2010 will only work with Rock Band 3.
The reason behind this is due to the inclusion of new instruments including keyboards and pro modes as well as "new lighting/ venue cues".
All old dlc will continue to work with the older Rock Band titles.
Rock Band 3 is available now on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS.
