Harmonix has confirmed that over 100 million tracks for its Rock Band series have been downloaded by fans.
Speaking with Game Informer, Harmonix’s Chris Rigopulos said the developer had recently hit the milestone after launching its first downloadable content in 2007.
"We recently hit a significant milestone; more than 100 million songs have been downloaded for Rock Band, said Rigopulos, "On behalf of Harmonix, I should probably take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to all of our fans who have propelled us to these heights and to all of the artists whose music lies at the heart of the Rock Band experience. "
Rigopulos added that nearly 5 million accounts has been downloading music from its online store which is available to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii (although Harmonix recently stopped supporting Nintendo’s console).
Harmonix, whose popular works include the Rock Band series and Kinect title Dance Central, have been releasing content on a weekly basis for the Rock Band games since 2007.
The developer recently cut support from MTV Games.
