UPDATE: Capcom Europe has given GamerZines a firm ‘no comment’. Microsoft, however, has told us that “pricing of Games on Demand titles are determined at a regional level, based on many factors, including regional market demands, current pricing across all retail, and exchange rates, which can vary dramatically from region to region.” Looks like European gamers are going to have to pay the full 1840 Microsoft Points.
ORIGINAL STORY: Looking to pick up Resident Evil 4 ‘Now In HD’ when you get home tonight? Well, if you’re thinking about putting down some Microsoft Points on the horror shooter, we’d advise holding off until further clarification on the pricing comes in from Capcom.
Resident Evil 4 HD is currently sitting on the UK Xbox Live Marketplace for £14.99 or 1840 Microsoft Points, slightly different to the £15.99/1600 MSP price point the publisher previously announced.
The game is available to buy from the US store for 1600 MSP, however.
Quite why the price in sterling has turned out lower than previously advertised when the price in MSP has risen is beyond us, but we’ve fired Capcom an email to find out exactly what’s going on.
Hopefully there won’t be any price problems when the game hits PlayStation Network later today. The game should be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers for just £7.99 in a 50% off launch promotion.
Resident Evil 4 HD launched earlier today on Xbox 360 and is due later today on PlayStation Network. Resident Evil: Code Veronica HD is due next week.
