No 1080p Option in F1 2011

Published on April 18th, 2011

Over the weekend new information emerged about Codemaster’s next racer based on the current Formula One season, . The title’s chief games designer revealed that like last year’s game the resolution will remain at 720p on consoles.

The issue seems to be the lack of processing power on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and a need to account for 24 cars on-track at all times.

"A 24 car racer at 1080p on the consoles? Not going to happen," revealed Stephen ‘T4RG4′ Hood, via the game’s official forums.

"Most games run lower than F1, often sub-720p in order save memory and maximise frame-rate."

Thankfully the PC version will not be affected by these restrictions and will once again support a plethora of different resolutions.

F1 2011 is currently being prepped for a September 23rd release and it’ll be the first Formula One game to implement both KERS and DRS in, we suspect, an extremely pretty arcade/simulation experience.

After last year’s strong and capable F1 2010, we’re looking forward to seeing how this series next entry is shaping up.
