IO Interactive’s Hitman Absolution will launch in 2012, Square Enix has confirmed.
Absolution will follow returning assassin Agent 47 on his most dangerous job to date.
Agent 47 has been betrayed by a trusted party and is now being hunted by the police.
His latest job will involve Agent 47 in a dark conspiracy and will embark on a personal journey to search for the truth.
"For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the HITMAN fantasy," said Tore Blystad, game director, IO Interactive.
"This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience to any of the other Hitman games, something our silent assassins will relish as well as those who are new to the Hitman world."
It has also been confirmed that Absolution will use IO’s new proprietary Glacier 2 technology.
Hitman Absolution will launch in 2012 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
