A new iteration in the Call of Duty series is set for 2011, and it looks likely that the first person shooter in question is Modern Warfare 3.
After Activision Blizzard’s quarterly earnings report was revealed this week, during a conference call with analysts, CEO Eric Hirshberg revealed the company is working on a new title:
"We will launch a new first-person action title during the back half of 2011."
COO Thioms Tippl then confirmed that it would be another Call of Duty title.
"Next year’s Call of Duty will be a first-person shooter," said Tippl.
Back in April this year, it was revealed that Modern Warfare 3 was in development, but legal trouble between publisher Activision and the former co-executives of developer Infinity Ward had hampered production. Infinity Ward has continued to hire for the project, however, which suggests that the studio is now back on track.
The seventh game in the series, Call of Duty Black Ops, launches on November 9, 2010.
