Microsoft have filed a suit with the Federal Court in Seattle, Kotaku reports, in which they allege that Motorola "broke its promise" in regards to its patent licensing through charging "royalties that are excessive and discriminatory" for the use of technology utilised within the Xbox 360.
In short, Microsoft are being charged more than other companies in regards to the tech used for the consoles wireless capabilities, alongside its ability to display videos that use the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec.
The industry giant is hoping that the courts will be able to rectify the situation by providing the company with compensation due to Motorola’s breach of contract, as well as deeming a more reasonable royalty rate.
