A new Medal of Honor game will almost certainly release this year, with fresh reports of its existence appearing online this morning.
Following a presentation from the publisher earlier today, UK retailer GAME tweeted to say that EA had revealed that a new Medal of Honor game was due for release in 2012.
The tweet also revealed that EA would be releasing Need For Speed 13 later this year, expected to be Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2.
The tweet has since been deleted.
Last year, a promotional slip included with Battlefield 3 suggested that a new Medal of Honor was on the way, but no time frame was alluded to.
Meanwhile, as way back as February last year, MoH Executive Producer Greg Goodrich confirmed that Danger Close “is currently working on the next Medal of Honor”.
The sequel is yet to be officially announced by EA.
This month’s issue of 360Zine also speculated that a new Medal of Honor game would be released during 2012. You can see what was said by downloading the latest issue.
A 2012 release of a new Medal of Honor game would make sense for the publisher, filling in the gap between releases in the Battlefield series. Unlike Activision’s approach with Call of Duty, DICE has previously suggested that it does not want to annualise the Battlefield series.
Medal of Honor released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in October 2010. The game was a reboot of the series, booting the first-person action out of WWII and into the current era.
