UPDATE: Max Payne 3 has been delayed until May 18th, Rockstar has announced. As such, the deadline for Special Edition pre-orders has been extended to April 22nd.
ORIGINAL STORY: The January 15th deadline for pre-orders of Max Payne 3′s £100 Special Edition has passed, but oddly, the SKU is still available to pre-order from most online retailers.
GAME, Zavvi and Play still list the edition as being available for pre-order, suggesting that the deadline for pre-orders may have been extended by Rockstar.
Rockstar had initially set a deadline of January 15th or “until stocks last” for pre-orders of Max Payne 3′s Special Edition, which includes a copy of the game, plus a 10″ statue of Max, art prints, a bullet keychain, the game’s official soundtrack, and two DLC packs, including the Classic Multiplayer Characters Pack and the Disorderly Conduct Multiplayer Weapons Pack.
The edition sparked controversy on its announcement for its relatively high UK price point. The edition retails at £99.99 in the UK, but only $99.99 (£65.34) in the US.
If you’d been holding off on pre-ordering the Special Edition, though, now might be your last chance to get those orders in before Rockstar pulls the plug.
We’ve sent an email off to Rockstar asking whether the deadline for pre-orders has been officially extended. We’ll update you when we get an update.
Max Payne 3 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in March.
