EA has laid off a “small” amount of staff at its Montreal studio, according to a report on trade website GamesIndustry International.
According to a statement provided to the website by EA, the layoffs form part of a reorganisation currently underway at the studio to allow “some teams to focus on digital initiatives, including new mobile and social projects”.
“These are routine changes which address the cyclical nature of the game industry,” said a spokesman for EA.
“A very small number of employees will be impacted – many will be assigned to new projects at EA, others will leave the company.”
The site claims that up to 50 people may have been made redundant.
EA Montreal has previously developed both games in the Army of Two franchise, as well as a selection of spin-offs for EA’s other core series, including SSX Blur, Skate It and Need For Speed: Nitro.
The studio is currently rumoured to be working on a third Army of Two game.
Last week, EA denied reports of imminent mass layoffs across its studios.
Company of Heroes 2, Batman: Arkham Origins, Grand Theft Auto V, Watch_Dogs, Beyond: Two Souls and Night of the Rabbit previews.
