A title update to fix Homefront’s game-breaking ‘Freeze’ bug is in the works and scheduled to be submitted to Microsoft for approval "within the next day or two", according to a post on the official Homefront website.
The ‘Freeze’ bug, which has affected a significant amount of Xbox 360 users since launch (ourselves included), stops players from being able to play the game while logged into their Xbox Live profile, freezing the game on the Kaos Studios splash screen during initial start up.
Kaos says that fixing the issue is its "highest priority".
"The Homefront Team has been working around the clock identifying and fixing issues surrounding Multiplayer functionality," read a post on the Homefront website. "We want to give everyone an update on what issues are known, how we are working on them, and when you can expect to see fixes available for download.
"The Homefront team is finishing up our first Critical Title Update that will address the Profile Corruption issue (also known as the ‘Freeze’ bug), as this is our highest priority.
"We are also including a fix for multiplayer connectivity and ping time issues, where players are being sent to distant server locations at the expense of performance. We expect this update to be submitted to Microsoft really soon and we will be working with them very closely to get this approved and deployed as quickly as possible."
Other multiplayer issues, such as multiplayer freezing and experience and statistics resets which affect both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, will be fixed in a second title update.
Many users are angry that they’re still unable to play the game they’ve paid for, and for the lack of updates on the issue from both THQ and Kaos.
One commenter said that the update would be "too little, too late", while another said he had already returned the game "for a full refund". Others said the issue is "unbelievable" and that THQ/Kaos’ "lack of communication is downright disrepectfull (sic)".
Homefront launched in the UK last Friday on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Have you been affected by one of its glitches?
