GameInformer has learned that 343 Industries have hired Pyramid Studios, The Skywalker Symphony Orchestra and Chanticleer vocal ensemble to re-record Halo: Combat Evolved’s iconic soundtrack and bring it up to modern standards.
However crucially this doesn’t mean changing any of the notes or cues associated with the beloved game.
“It was a huge undertaking to transcribe, orchestrate, and produce every note from the original game soundtrack files”, revealed Paul Lipson, Pyramind Studios COO/audio director to GameInformer.
“Our team approached every aspect of the music with an immense amount of skill and care, keeping the core Halo sound while updating the production to today’s highest standards.”
It seems Microsoft really aren’t sparing any expense when it comes to this HD re-release, but seeing as the last Master Chief release, Halo Reach, sold over 8.45 million copies – thanks VGChartz – they have plenty of money to throw around.
