A public multiplayer beta will not be released for Halo 4, 343 Industries has confirmed.
Speaking on Halo Waypoint, the developer said that it was “focused on polishing and shipping our experience for the duration of the year,” adding that “splitting resources to manage and build a beta is not on our schedule.”
The news may come as a disappointment to some Halo fans.
Both Halo 3 and Halo: Reach received public multiplayer betas prior to release, but only to selected users.
Access to the Halo 3 beta was restricted to those who picked up a copy of 2007 open-worlder Crackdown, while access to the Halo: Reach beta required a copy of Halo 3: ODST.
Halo 4 launches on Xbox 360 this ‘holiday’. The first in-game screenshots of the game were released earlier this week.
