The Grand Theft Auto series has topped 100 million sales worldwide according to a update on software sales provided by Take Two.
Appearing yesterday at the Wedbush Morgan Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference, it was revealed that Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series has sold 100 million copies to date with 2008′s Grand Theft Auto IV topping sales of 20 million.
Take Two also gave updates on other Rockstar franchises which Midnight Club and Max Payne selling 18 million and 7 million units respectively.
The publisher also confirmed that 2K’s BioShock series has sold 8 million units between just two releases.
2009′s Borderlands has been well-received selling 4 million units. The publisher called the support and sale of downloadable content for the game "successful".
Following the release of Civilization V last September, lifetime sales of the series are over 10 million and 2K’s Mafia series is now topping 5 million units.
Many of the mentioned franchises currently have titles in the works such as 2K’s BioShock Infinite due in 2012 and Max Payne 3 still in development hell over at Rockstar Vancouver.
No lifetime sales were given for the Red Dead series.
Whilst not confirmed, we’d bet our last penny on sequels to Borderlands, Midnight Club and of course, Grand Theft Auto V arriving sometime in the future.
