Mass Effect 3 Datapad App launches on iOSEA has released a new iOS app that lets players keep track of the latest news from the Mass Effect universe, interact with the game’s characters, and increase their war asset strength for the final battle against the Reapers.

The Mass Effect 3 Datapad app, which launched on the App Store yesterday, also features a ‘Fleet Commander’ mini-game, letting players deploy forces on non-playable missions and rack up credits to spend in the full game.

Each mission takes a different amount of time to complete – we’ve spotted some that take 6 hours – encouraging players to check back every few hours to collect their credits and dispatch their forces elsewhere.

A codex detailing the history of the alien species, governments, planets, ships and organisations featured in the Mass Effect universe is also included in the app, letting users brush up on their ME knowledge outside of the game.

The app is available to download for free from the App Store. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

Mass Effect 3 launched last Friday on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. We thought it was ‘one of the best games ever made’.
