Atari has closed Eden Games, the French development studio behind the publisher’s Test Drive Unlimited series.
The closure follows mass lay-offs at the studio last May, which saw 51 of the studio’s 80 staff made redundant.
“Eden Games pays now for Atari mismanagement,” an Eden Games employee said at the time.
“For several years we are witnessing multiple leader changes at its head, they did not hesitate to get rich despite financial difficulties.”
Besides Test Drive Unlimited 1 & 2, Eden Games had previously developed games in the V-Rally series on PS1, Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed, and 2008’s reboot of survival horror Alone in the Dark.
According to a report on Gamasutra, Eden Games was one of Atari’s “less-profitable assets”.
Last night, Atari posted losses of $4.8m for fiscal year 2012.
Company of Heroes 2, Batman: Arkham Origins, Grand Theft Auto V, Watch_Dogs, Beyond: Two Souls and Night of the Rabbit previews.
