A new Dead Space game is in development, EA has confirmed, and will launch prior to March 2013.
The game was referenced during an earnings call held by the company last night, although no specific details were revealed.
The new game is expected to be Dead Space 3, a direct sequel to January 2010’s superb sci-fi horror/shooter.
Last month, a listing for Dead Space 3 appeared on a South African retailer’s website alongside Need For Speed: Most Wanted 2, the next title in EA’s racing series expected to be in development at Criterion Games.
But rumours surrounding Dead Space 3 surfaced even further back.
Last September, a film crew picked up a Dead Space 3 logo during a tour of EA’s Visceral studio, then, one month later, alleged plot details for the game were leaked onto the net.
According to the leaked details, Dead Space 3 will be set on an ice planet named Tau Volantis and will see hero Isaac haunted by an apparition of himself called “Shadow Isaac”.
Dead Space 1 & 2 developer Visceral Games is currently rumoured to be working on all manner of titles, including Army of Four, an online action shooter and a DotA-type game.
Expect to see more on Dead Space at next month’s E3.
