Dead Space 2 has hit North American stores today, and to celebrate EA has announced plans to release a new standalone XBLA and PSN expansion dubbed, Dead Space 2: Severed.
No doubt taking cues from Capcom and the success they celebrated with their Dead Rising 2 spin-offs, Case Zero and Case West, Severed will feature two standalone chapters featuring the heroes of Dead Space: Extraction, Gabe and Lexine.
Like Isaac Clarke, they’ve found themselves trapped on the Sprawl fighting off wave after wave of Necros. Interestingly the events of Severed will run parallel to the campaign of the downloadable game’s bigger brother.
No price or release date was mentioned in the announcement of this title, but we suspect more information will be confirmed soon.
