Overnight Codemasters has announced that they’re working on another entry in the DiRT series, one which will focus purely on demolition derby racing.
DiRT Showdown will be a spin-off from the traditional rally focus of the franchise and involves several different racing modes. All events take place in an arena with over-the-top fireworks, jumps, cars and cheering crowds with activities varying from gymkhana-like trick events, last car standing, regular races, Lap Attack and Eliminator.
Codemasters has yet to confirm whether this release is download-only or not, but they have said that DiRT 4′s on-going development is still on course.
DiRT Showdown will launch this coming May on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Codemasters’ Racing Studio has already shown that they have a great understanding of what makes a great demolition derby experience with GRID and we’re very interested to see how they expand the concept.
