Those anticipating the Video Game Awards last weekend will have noticed a certain ‘Epic’ announcement was missing from the world premiere line-up.
Just hours before the show went LIVE, Microsoft pulled the world premiere for Gears of War, footage that had been confirmed weeks in advance.
Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski has explained however that the timing was simply not right.
"One thing I’ve learned in the world of video games; it’s a war out there," said Cliff.
"There’s a lot of strategizing going on and at any point something may shift due to a strategic move that needs to happen. So I came out here potentially announcing something, it turns out the timing’s not right."
It looks like the world will have to wait a little longer to see what the Gears franchise has up its sleeves.
Gears of War 3 is due to ship in Autumn 2011.
