Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, revealing the first ever details on this year’s Call of Duty and confirming a November release date.
According to the game’s official website, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is set during “a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.”
Screenshots and video on the website, which are all currently censored, also drop further hints as to what to expect from Treyarch’s sequel, including the first glimpse at some of the game’s futuristic vehicles.
Thumbnails from the game’s ‘interactive trailer’, which is not currently viewable, suggest that part of the game could be set in a war-torn futuristic Los Angeles, while the file names of the images reveal that the game’s small futuristic drones are called ‘Quadrotors’.
A second image hints at the possibility of a vehicle called a ‘Claw’, which appears to be some kind of futuristic tank.
Helicopters are also expected to be pilotable, just as they were in the original Black Ops.
Expect more official info on Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, including the game’s debut trailer later today.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 launches on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on November 13th.
