2K has officially announced Borderlands 2, a sequel to Gearbox’s loot-grabbing shooter released in 2009.
Though a sequel has long been hinted at (and on a few occasions, right out confirmed), Borderlands 2 will be heading to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in the next fiscal year (any time between April 1 2012 and March 31 2013).
Details are scarce but 2K is promising new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment to find in new areas of vast overworld Pandora.

More info on Borderlands 2 will be revealed at Gamescom 2011 in Cologne (August 17-21) and at PAX Prime in Seattle (August 26-28).
