The average user on Xbox Live has been a member of the service for 1.8 years, Microsoft has revealed.
The statistic was revealed in an email sent out to Xbox Live users over the weekend, which also revealed some other nuggets of information about the online service. Did you know that Xbox Live users have spent over 3,673,764 hours playing Halo in the last 12 months alone? Impressive.
Xbox Live first launched on the original Xbox on November 15th 2002. The online gaming service lets users play online multiplayer games, as well as download new content and stream movies and music.
The service was extended to the PC in 2007 with Games For Windows Live, and eventually found its way onto mobile phones with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 OS.
An update to the service, which is due for release before the year’s out, will add YouTube, Bing search functionality and TV services to the Xbox 360 network.
Certain features are limited to Xbox Live Gold users, with a Gold subscription costing £39.99 a year.
