Confirming our earlier report, Activision has announced via a financial call that it is to disbands the Guitar Hero series and cancel development on True Crime: Hong Kong.
According to a financial report issued by Activision, True Crime: Hong Kong has been pulled in favour of "greatest opportunities that the company currently has to create the world’s best interactive entertainment experiences."
Meanwhile the Guitar Hero franchise has been disbanded due to the "continued declines in the music genre" adding that development on a Guitar Hero game for 2011 has been discontinued.
During the company’s conference call, Activision COO Thomas Tippl confirmed that the publisher has no plans to release any music (including DJ Hero) or Tony Hawk titles this year.
