Speaking with CVG, Danny Bilson from THQ has revealed that his company has $40m set aside specifically to create a game to take advantage of Microsoft's upcoming Natal peripheral.
It sounds like THQ haven't even started on the project yet though. "I have some concepts and some ideas that use Natal in a core game in a really, really cool way," Danny told CVG.
Wisely, THQ is going to sit back and watch how consumers react to the launch of Natal. If it kicks off and THQ sees value it'll pounce on it with its 40m and get the ball rolling with a significant IP. Danny talks of waiting for the install base of Natal to grow, and suggests that it could be a couple of years before that happens.
It's a shame really. If someone was to gamble now with a big game then it could kick start the new peripheral spectacularly. If everyone decides to sit back like THQ and see what happens then we could be in for a long wait before the good games arrive.
