Everybody believed that the PGR series died when Bizarre Creations jumped the good ship Microsoft join Activision in 2007, well according to a post on Kotaku that may not be the case.
Tom Burt, who is a proud owner of the electric sports car, was asked by a team of sound engineers from Microsoft Game Studios to hurtle his car around the track, so that they could record audio for future Forza and PGR titles.
Obviously it would be incredibly impolite to refuse such an offer and he's written an extensive blog, taken some pictures and uploaded audio to provide an insight into how the process works.
We aren't ones to nitpick but PGR and recent Forza titles already had plenty of audio for a Tesla Roadster, so it's unclear why Microsoft would need to capture audio again. Perhaps their next project will take advantage of a new sound capture technology, or maybe it's Polyphony Digital trying to pull a fast one.
Rumours have already been circulating for months about PGR5 and producing a more arcade-like racer wouldn't be too much of a stretch for the, Microsoft owned, Turn 10 Studios who develop the iconic Forza franchise.
PGR4 was a fantastic achievement for Bizarre Creations and in our opinion it is the crown duel of the series, narrowly edging out PGR2. It will be very interesting to see what kind of game is produced without the studio which birthed the series.
Bizarre Creations are currently working on Blur for 360, PS3 and PC. We'll keep you updated on how it's turning out.
