The post apocalyptic setting may be a familiar sight, but Interwave Studio's Nuclear Dawn hopes to stand out from the crowd in other ways, by fusing both the FPS and RTS genres together for one seamless single player experience.
The game will feature four playable classes and two factions: the Empire and the Consortium. As a soldier you'll have the power to command squads to tackle enemies across the war-torn landscape having access to a range of weapons and load-outs. While the first person shooter action has been described as "hard, fast and unforgiving," the RTS sections require you to gather resources, base build and research and implement technology.
We're definitely intrigued by the concept, but in reality it's a mixture of genres that has been tough to get right in the past. Let's hope it's better than Southpeak's Raven Squad which was a truly awful game!
Nuclear Dawn is due for release on PC and Xbox 360. A release date has yet to be confirmed.
