Project Natal, Microsoft's camera-utilising motion-sensing wonder-device that wowed the crowds at E3 this year, apparently won't be with us for at least another twelve months, says Bill Gates.
Speaking to CNET, Gates talked up the connectivity with Windows (for use in virtual meetings and the like), focusing more on the utilitarian functionality of the device as a new office essential rather than its promise as a game controller.
That said, he had time to compare it to Wii's motion controller, claiming that Nintendo's technology doesn't allow players to "sit there with their friends and do these natural things."
"That's a 3D positional device," he continued, "this is video recognition. This is a camera seeing what's going on." So an EyeToy, then?
We jest, of course. We're quite ridiculously excited about the possibilities of Natal, and will be bringing you regular updates on the device and exactly what it can do over the coming year.
