It would seem that those looking forward to the anticipated sequel to 2009 surprise hit Batman: Arkham Asylum can look forward to developer Rocksteady Studios implementing some form of multiplayer within the title.

The news, as reported by fan site ArkhamCity.co.uk, emerges from the latest issue of UK magazine PSM3 that hit retail shelves this week.

Previous rumour had led to the belief that Catwoman would become a playable co-op character to work alongside the Dark Knight himself throughout the game with fans clamouring for Robin or Nightwing to receive the same treatment.

As always, we can only speculate following such news as we await further reveals from the developer ahead of the titles release in late 2011.
