GAME cuts £20 off special edition of Modern Warfare 2

A sign of the economic times, a sales promotion, or a special edition too far as UK retailer cuts price by £20

With the Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 2 selling out in hours, it's not surprising that Activision had another special edition of Modern Warfare 2 waiting in the wings.

The Veteran Edition of Modern Warfare 2 is the Hardened Edition of the game - steel box, custom artwork, and oh yes, the game - with a special Soap MacTavish statue. Of the Veteran Edition, GAME says "You'll have to be quick to get your hands on this collectors' edition. There are so few available in the UK that those who get hold of it will be part of an elite squad of owners who will get to enjoy this prized edition in their home."

Last night, GAME gave us an indication of which way these figures may go as it slashed over £20 off the original £120 price tag and is now retailing it for the "magic" £99 price tag. Quite when getting a game for under a hundred quid became a steal we're not sure.

Perhaps it's simply that there's too many special editions of Modern Warfare 2 around. Perhaps it's the economy. Or perhaps £120 for an action figure is a little too steep?

Whatever the reason, we can't see the sales of the ordinary Modern Warfare 2 edition being anything other than spectacular, come November, despite its own price tag being raised.
