As gamers we rarely hear about what developers really think about the opinions of reviewers and critics. In an exclusive and honest interview with EA Montreal's Alain Tascan, he revealed how the development team didn't hide from the negative reviews and instead embraced the feedback they had to offer:

"We want to be judged fairly on what the game is trying to achieve, it's not Call of Duty and it's not pretending to be," explained the producer of 40th day.

The franchise has been previously written off as simply another Gears of War clone and from what we've played so far the sequel definitely seems much better.

"It's not like we tried to please people, but we read seventy reviews and translated ones from each region, e.g. Italy, France, Spain, America, England etc. What makes them important is that they are coming from the experts, people that know about games, and they told us certain things were wrong."

Game reviewers like to be validated just as much as developers and it's good to know that at least someone out there is reading our reviews.

The first part of our exclusive interview is linked on the right and we'll have more from Mr Tascan tomorrow.
