It seems quality does always rise to the top if this week's All Formats Top 40 is anything to go by. Square-Enix Europe's Batman: Arkham Asylum remains comfortably on top, ahead of Nintendo's Wii Sports Resort at two.

Smoke hugs the ground and responds to movement.
But perhaps the biggest story is a return to the top three for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Presumably this can be put down to late adopters wanting to get into the action before the sequel arrives this November. Evidently, most stores are selling it fairly cheaply, but its continuing success is still something of a surprise.

Meanwhile, Square-Enix can be justifiably pleased with the performance of Dissidia: Final Fantasy, perhaps proving that the PSP can still produce healthy software sales outside Japan, with a creditable performance in reaching tenth position.

More debris from explosions.
Elsewhere, Atari's superhero MMO Champions Online struggles into the lower reaches of the top twenty at eighteen, while Grand Theft Auto IV re-enters at fifteen ahead of next month's release of DLC pack The Ballad of Gay Tony. Wolfenstein sees a pretty big drop from its first week, sinking from four to eleven, while the continuing steady sales of the Fallout 3 expansion disc show that many people are yet to fully embrace the joys of DLC.

Super wolf?
Can The Dark Knight hold onto his top spot next week? We doubt it - there's a certain Fab Four who may have something to say about that...
