Fancy yourself as a bit of a Hiro, do you? Well, this Wednesday you'll get the chance to join said martial artist and his similarly diminutive chums Futo and Suzume as they "embark on an epic and electrifying quest to restore harmony to a world on the brink of chaos", it says here.

Genero-plot aside, we're hearing good things about the latest game from Hitman creator Io Entertainment - a little fluffier than the usual adult fare this developer usually serves up, but no less polished and playable.

PlayStation 3 owners will have to wait an extra day to get their stealth on - the Mini Ninjas demo arrives on PSN this Thursday instead. If you're lucky enough to be in Cologne this week for GamesCom and you're a PC owner, you can even get your hands on a free demo from Square-Enix's booth (B54 in Hall 6, for those that are interested). Basically, there's no excuse NOT to be playing this by Thursday night.

The finished game will hit the aforesaid formats - and also Wii and DS - on 11th September. A demo at this stage suggests two things to us - that Square-Enix Europe is confident of the game's quality, but is hoping that an early demo will refresh the memories of those for whom the game might otherwise have fallen off-radar.

If you want to know more about Mini Ninjas, then feel free to visit the offical site at www.minininjas.com, or you could even join the fan group on Facebook, which is bloody modern. Otherwise, feel free to check back on this very site later in the week, when we'll be bringing you our impressions of the game.

In the meantime, check out the screenshots we've added to our media gallery if you want to see how Io's cute-violent adventure is shaping up.
