We all love to get something for free, or at least feel like we're getting something for nothing, right? We pay a lot for our video games, so when DLC is handed out for free it feels like we're getting better bang for our buck. But, DLC has also quickly become a good way for game makers to fleece us out of our cash for useless stuff, or content that really should have been included at release.

We can understand that. Other developers have used the lure of launch day DLC to help sell their games, trying to fool you into thinking that you're getting better value for money when often you're getting features and content that was going to be included in the game anyway. That makes good marketing sense.
Other developers, however, have charged for DLC that many feel should really be there at launch, or have ridiculously over-priced content (horse armour anyone?) or even offered DLC at a price when it is already sitting on the disc. Now in those instances they're taking the mick. Remember when Capcom controversially adding a Versus mode to Resident Evil 5 charging gamers for the privilege? Or more recently when 2K Games has offered Bioshock 2 content at a price when all you're doing is simply paying for an unlock code because it's already on the disc. Or all the over-priced content that has been thrust in our faces: Street Fighter costume packs; Godfather cars and extra cash; "premium" Dead Space DLC - all designed exclusively to pick your pockets; and so on.
People are always going to buy costume packs, or any content that gives them new maps, weapons or abilities, but please don't insult us by putting this content on the disc and then charging us for an unlock code. That's a real insult.
