WINNER - WII SPORTS RESORT
What better way to demonstrate your latest bit of tech than with a follow-up to the most successful video game of all time? But Wii Sports Resort was so much more than just a mere tech demo. Capturing everything that made the original so endearing, playable and downright addictive before ramping it up to the next level, Wii Sports Resort featured a variety of minigames filled with innovative uses for the new 1:1 motion-sensing that simultaneously managed to incorporate all elements of the tech. From the ridiculously cute Frisbee game to rehauling Wii Sports' classic Golf and Bowling minigames, Wii Sports Resort is the one sports game this year that had us - and our families - helplessly hooked.

Featuring a substantial amount of improvements to the already superb game engine, including an impressive 360 degree dribbling system and the wonderful Virtual Pro mechanic, FIFA 10 looked, played and felt like real football. Easily the best football game ever made.
RUNNER UP - FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 4
Round 4's unique physics-based gameplay propelled it to the top of the boxing league when it launched, securing its title as the best boxer we'd ever played. It had its faults - the one-track career mode felt relatively stale in comparison to the revolutionary gameplay, for example, but nonetheless the insane level of satisfaction earned from knocking our mates to the floor ensured that it became this summer's multiplayer game of choice, and one of the finest sports games we played this year.
