WINNER - FLOWER
One of the most elegant games we've ever played, Flower captured our hearts and minds when it launched earlier this year, offering up a thought-provoking story of a helpless petal as it travels through a world slowly becoming scarred by industrialisation. Earth, then. Making the best use of the Sixaxis seen so far, Flower certainly wasn't the longest game we've ever played, but similar to predecessor FlOw, Flower's one of those that you can go back to time after time should you ever need a quick break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Super Metroid in all but name, Shadow Complex's star-studded heritage (where else can you find a team made up by Nolan North, Cliff Bleszinski and Star Trek novelist Peter David?) ensure that it would always be in the running for being one of the best downloadable games available, but even we were surprised by its overall quality. Taking us on a multi-hour adventure, this side-scrolling action/adventure deserves to be in anyone's virtual catalogue.
RUNNER UP - TRIALS HD
So it may just be an updated version of that early-noughties Flash game, but Trials HD proves that any game is able to stand the test of time provided it has a solid foundation. Simple yet fun, all Trials HD asked was that we stayed on our bike without hurling ourselves into one of the many obstructions that litter the course, using just the left and right buttons to keep our balance. With incredible physics, jaw-dropping courses, brilliant minigames and a fistful of " I'm supposed to get where!?" moments, Trials HD was the best Xbox Live Arcade title we played this year, and certainly the most addictive.
