According to a report on WildGunmen.com, Wii's upcoming Zelda game Zelda: Skyward Sword will not have an option for left-handed controls, meaning left-handers will have to control the protagonist's sword using their opposite arm or attempt to mimic right-handed controls.

"Left-handed controls are not currently planned," reads the article, which states the information came from a Nintendo representative, "so, there's no option to have a left-handed Link.

"This could mean a bit of getting used to for left-handed players, as your hand is controlling the opposite arm on Link, but given the wii-motes design, button placement won't be a problem."

You don't need to be a lefty to see that, if true, this could potentially cause many a problem for left-handed players. But I am, so I can picture them all too clearly.

Of course, this may turn out to be complete bunkum. The vast majority of Nintendo's Wii titles which make predominant use the motion controls have offered a left-handed control option in the past.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is the next Wii Zelda game which was officially unveiled at last week's E3. It relies on the use of Wii Motion Plus to control Link's sword, replicating your movements in game.

The game is due for release next year.
