Sega are doing their part to ensure gamers have an excuse to get the much maligned balance board out of their cupboards by announcing support for the Wii Fit peripheral in Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll.
After the initial splurge of supported titles for Nintendo's flat white board, there hasn't been too many other games willing to support the fitness apparatus-cum-game peripheral, but thanks to some ball obsessed monkeys it won't remain dusty for much longer.
"This is the first time any game in the series has utilised the balance board, which opens up a whole new way to play," Sega's Kate Billingham told MCV. "It's going to broaden the reach of Super Monkey Ball games even further, and that can only be a good thing."
Even though implementation of balance board support has thus far been mediocre in third party titles, the subtle variations between swaying one way and another should be a perfect fit for Super Monkey Ball's many platform levels.
Banana Blitz was a bit of a disappointment when released in 2006 but seeing as it was a launch title for the Wii, we expect the sequel to be much more comfortable with the motion-based madness.
Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll will be released on February 12, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.
