UK retailer Zavvi has priced Wii U at £399.85, pinning a 20th July 2012 release date on Nintendo’s next console.
The online retailer put its product page for the Wii U live this morning, speculating an extraordinarily high price for Wii U, which, if true, will make Nintendo’s console one of the most expensive consoles ever released.
Nintendo’s current Wii console cost £179.99 at launch, while Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 cost £279.99 and £424.99 respectively.
The alleged high price of the Wii U can probably be attributed to the console’s new controller, which features a 6.2″ touch screen.
Wii U was announced by Nintendo yesterday during its E3 press conference. The firm is still to officially announce a price and release date for the next-gen console.
