Nintendo is to debut its next home console at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, the company has confirmed.
News also confirms that Nintendo will launch this platform at some time in 2012.
Announcing the news via Press Release, Nintendo Japan has stated that the company will be showing off a playable model of its new system.
Here’s part of the press release which states, "We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles."
Nintendo would not comment on what features the new system would have but company president Satoru Iwata said, "As for the details of exactly what it will be, we have decided that it is best to let people experience it for themselves at E3. So I won’t talk about specific details today, but it will offer a new way of playing games within the home."
Rumours of a Wii successor have been circulating for the last two weeks with many believing the system has been codenamed Project Cafe.
Other information suggests that the system will feature controllers with built-in high-resolution touch screens.
