Nintendo has hailed the success of it’s Wii Fit series saying that it is outperforming any popular celebrity fitness workout DVDs available.
According to a MCVUK report, Davina McCall’s range of fitness DVDs have sold around 830,000 copies over a four year period.
Meanwhile Wii Fit which has been on the market for over two years has sold 4.4 million copies in the UK.
Wii Fit is already bigger than any fitness DVD out there," says Nintendo UK’s marketing manager Rob Lowe: "Wii Fit has sold over 3m units, while Wii Fit Plus has sold more than 1.4m according to Chart-Track."
The success of Wii Fit has seen developers introduce more fitness software into the market including EA Sports Active, Get Fit with Mel B and the Kinect title Your Shape: Fitness Evolved.
