Retailers are optimistic about 2011 citing many of the year’s big releases to keep the market stable throughout the year.
This news comes from MCV’s Retail Survey 2010 which saw 85 per cent of retailers say they’re positive about moving into 2011 with store managers naming the Nintendo 3DS, Gears of War 3, Batman: Arkham City, Killzone 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword as some of next year’s biggest releases.
However, six per cent of retailers said they weren’t feeling confident about moving into 2011 due to market shrinkage, the impending 2.5 per cent VAT rise and the increase in pre-owned competition in 2010.
According to the MCV report, a member of the MCV Retail Advisory Board said the lack of new platforms and mid-week launches were having an effect on the current state of the market.
Indie retailers are saying positive or at least one retailer is as quoted in the report saying: "You’ve got to stay positive. I’ve been in this business for 25 years and I’m not planning on leaving."
