Nintendo had reportedly turned down the chance to exclusively release DICE’s Battlefield series due to the platform holder’s lack of online strategy.
This information comes from former Nintendo of America employee Jeff Kalles who discussed this new during a Podcast Telethon with NintendoWorldReport.
Kalles said that DICE pitched Battlefield as a Gamecube exclusive but despite Nintendo’s interest, the lack on an online strategy meant the deal never happened.
As NintendoWorldReport suggests, it’s likely that DICE pitched to many different platform holders during this time.
DICE recently launched Battlefield 3, a multiplatform release which has gone on to sell over 5 million copies.
EA has pledged support to Nintendo’s next home console and it’s even been suggested that the publisher may provide the platform’s online service.
