Nintendo will not be announcing a price or release date for Wii U during E3, President Satoru Iwata has revealed.
Speaking during the firm’s end-of-year financial reports briefing, Iwata confirmed that Nintendo will be showcasing the console’s “final format, and discuss the details and the software line-up for this year” during this year’s show.
However, as with previous hardware releases, Iwata told investors that the firm would not be announcing a price or release date for the console during the trade show.
Instead, dates and prices for each market will be announced “sometime after E3”.
E3 kicks off in Los Angeles on June 5th.
Nintendo has already confirmed that Wii U will release at some point during the second half of 2012.
However, an expected price point for the console, which uses a tablet-like device instead of a standard controller, has yet to be discussed.
That hasn’t stopped some retailers guessing, however.
Last year, UK retailer Zavvi listed the Wii U at £399.85.
