Nintendo America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has said the Big N is anticipating the Wii to have another good holiday shopping period despite strong competition from Sony and Microsoft.
Speaking at the BMO Capital Markets Annual Digital Entertainment Conference held in New York today, Reggie said that Nintendo has brand recognition on their side.
"The holidays are more important to Nintendo than to other manufacturers," he said. "We have a distinct edge when it comes to gift-giving, and it’s no doubt because of the familiarity and recognition of both our brand and key franchises,"
Nintendo has big hitters such as Wii Party, Donkey Kong Country Returns and GoldenEye 007 to help push Wii sales (including Kirby’s Epic Yarn in the U.S.) as well as new bundles including the limited edition Red Nintendo Wii bundles.
"Nintendo expects tthe same kind of advantage here at the end of 2010," he said. "From a Nintendo perspective, we have two red bundles in the marketplace that we didn’t have last year. We’ve already begun getting a broad range of products for consumers."
