The long-awaited Dragon Quest X is coming to both Wii and upcoming console Wii U , Square Enix has confirmed.
Dragon Quest X was announced for the Wii in 2008 and is still in development with an internal team at Square Enix. However, a separate version for the Wii U will be released featuring upgraded visuals.
Square Enix also announced that Dragon Quest X will be an online RPG featuring cross-platform play between Wii and Wii systems.
Post-release content is set to include jobs and quests including seasonal changes such as Halloween events.
Dragon Quest X designer Yuji Hori, has also stated that 3DS connectivity is being looked into with hopes of allowing players to transfer their characters to the handheld to exchange data on the go similar to the Tag Mode seen in recent entries.
Square hopes to hold a beta for the game next year but a 2012 release is slated for Dragon Quest X in Japan.
Expect to see more from Dragon Quest X at Tokyo Game Show being held next week.
