Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has said it’s unlikely that Nintendo’s next home console will be 3D.
With much talk of a successor to the Wii, Reggie says that the company’s ‘glasses-free’ stance means it is likely that Nintendo’s next home console will not feature 3D support.
"Glasses-free is a big deal," said Fils-Aime.
"We’ve not said publicly what the next thing for us will be in the home console space, but based on what we’ve learned on 3D, it’s likely that won’t be it."
Nintendo said during E3 last year that it would be looking at 3D television adoption rates to determine whether or not 3D capabilities would be a fit for their next home console.
Shigeru Miyamoto said he didn’t believe that a 3D home console would not be the company’s next step.
Does this mean Nintendo won’t support 3D in its home console software until 3D TVs can support the same glasses-free technology as its new handheld?
